Kudu Camp
Camping site information
Kudu Camp is one of our smaller camping sites where up to 3 vehicles fit with ease. Since this camp is exclusive, only one group can book this camp at a time. For this camp, we allow a maximum of 6 adults.
Just like our other two camps, this camping site is also right next to the river. As you follow the 10m trail down towards the water, you will walk through a small dry river bed (during the winter months) to get to an island. At the other side of this island, you will find the permanent river stream. During the wetter months there will be water in the dry river bed, which can be seen from the camp. There will be a bridge to take you to the island.
Kudu camp is perfect for those who simply want to relax at their camping site. The views from the island (and the camp itself) are spectacular, and you might be lucky enough to see some Buffalo or other game from your camp! Don’t forget your hammock - there are some lovely shade trees on the island where you can attach your hammock. When it gets hot, you can definitely cool down in the river. Even though we do not recommend kayaking or canoeing from this camping site, you are more than welcome to load your kayaks/canoes and drive towards the Citrus Dam where you can enjoy this activity. Please bring your own kayak/canoe.
The boma, with a fire pit, is situated towards to side of the camp. If you are a lover of the bushveld, you will feel right at home with the bushveld surrounding the camp. The trees provide shade during the summer months, but during the winter months, there is only shade on the island.
At Kudu camp, you will find the toilet towards the right side of the camp. The shower is located a short distance behind the kitchenette on the other side of the camp, built slightly elevated to give you a stunning view. The kitchenette is close to the boma. There is a wash-up area and a steel table.
Although there is no electricity at the camp, there is a donkey/wood-fired water heater for those lovely hot showers, as well as for the kitchenette. Limited wood is provided and included in the rate. More wood can be purchased on the farm. We also sell ice at reception.
There are solar powered lights in the kitchenette and ablution, which can be switched on and off with the remote provided.
